
Dr. Abookire is a graduate of Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts and is Board Certified in Internal Medicine. She also earned a Masters in Public Health degree from the Harvard School of Public Health.
Dr. Abookire is currently serving as Medical Director of Safety and Quality at Newton Wellesley Hospital, as well as Chief Medical Advisor to Information Systems. She has academic appointments at Harvard Medical School and in the Division of Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
Prior to her current role, she served as Associate Medical Director of Clinical and Quality Analysis at Partners HealthCare System Information Systems, where she was involved in research studies on the epidemiology and prevention of medication errors and adverse drug events.
Dr. Abookire is a former aviation systems engineer, where she served as project manager for flight management systems that integrated flight data to provide safety checks that help flight crews achieve optimum safety.
