Allan Frankel is Assistant Clinical Professor at Tufts University School of Medicine. He is also Director of Patient Safety for Partners HealthCare System and Staff Anesthesiologist at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. Dr. Frankel is currently the Project Leader for the Center of Excellence study: Evaluating Tools That Facilitate Reporting Surveillance, and Analysis of Medical Errors/Adverse Events. Dr. Frankel received his BS in Biology from Brandeis University and his MD from Boston University School of Medicine. After his residency training in Anesthesia at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, he completed a clinical fellowship in Anesthesia at The Children's Hospital Medical Center in Boston and went on to become an Instructor in Anesthesia at Harvard Medical School and Associate Anesthetist at Beth Israel Hospital. In 1998, Dr. Frankel became Chief Medical Safety Officer, Newton-Wellesley Hospital in Newton, Massachusetts. In 1999, he served as Chairman, Adverse Drug Event Symposium for the Institute for Healthcare Improvement. Dr. Frankel is currently Chair of the Patient Safety Implementation group and ID - Epidemiology Collaborative Group for Partners HealthCare System.
